Me and Rumple watched Cloverfield last night. We borrowed it from Pippy. It was brilliant. There was one problem in as much as it was playing in black and white. We thought it was intended and served to create the mood or something. When it had finished however, we realised that the DVD player was being silly and it should have been in colour. Never mind. It didn’t spoil it.
There was a bit in it that made me feel really sad. Everybody is running down the street, trying to escape. They don’t know what the threat is at this point and are just trying to get away. It’s blind panic. It made me think how awful it would be to be in that position with your kids. Trying to hold onto them whilst you were running and losing them. AWFUL. I thought maybe it was just my strange train of thought that led me to reflect on this. Rumple said that he had the same kind of feeling though. We concluded that that’s what makes a good film. When it makes you imagine what it would be like to be in that position.
Me and Rumple love watching films. We haven’t watched one in a while due to being tired/doing shifts etc etc. We have different tastes in films. Rumple loves comedies. Stuff lie American Pie, Blades of Glory and 40 year old virgin. I prefer drama type stuff like Crash, or The pursuit of Happyness. We do compromise though and so watch a good selection.
Despite our different tastes, me and Rumple agreed on one thing. Open Water is by far the crappest film we have ever seen. It was dire. When it finished, we were actually quite cross and felt that we had been cheated out of 2 hours or so of our lives. Terrible.
